专业概况

The MHA program offers a strong curriculum encompassing healthcare finance, human resources management, health economics, strategic management of healthcare systems, global health governance, health disparities, Native American health policy and administration, women's health policy and programs, evaluation of health care policy and programs, health law and ethics, hospital/clinic administration, payment systems, and health policy and politics.

The MHA degree is designed to meet the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education(CAHME) accreditation standards.

The UNM MHA program requires 48 credit hours of graduate study and the curriculum includes:

• Core (30 credits)
• Electives (12 credits)
• Internship/Practicum (3 credits)
• Substantive culminating experience (3 credits)

The School of Public Administration's Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program was created to meet the significant and unmet need for graduate-level professional education for administrative and clinical personnel of health service organizations. The MHA curriculum is designed to address the particular cost, quality, and access needs of the healthcare industry. The curriculum focuses on healthcare policy and administration issues facing health services organizations, such as health analytics, health care finance, quality improvement, management, and leadership. The MHA coursework reflects the needs of our region's Hispanic, Native American, rural, and low-income populations. The goal of the MHA program is to produce culturally competent, evidence-based managers and leaders who seek to improve and transform the health of the populations served by their organizations.

Core

The following core curriculum of 30 credit hours (10 courses):

• PADM 600 Introduction to Health Policy and Management (First Fall Semester)
• PADM 521 Institutional Development and Behavior (Fall Only)
• PADM 525 Human Resources Management in the Public Sector (Fall Only)
• PADM 562 Health Governance in Global Perspective (Spring Only)
• PADM 563 Healthcare Finance (Fall Only)
• PADM 564 Healthcare Policy and Program Evaluation (Spring Only)
• PADM 566 Health Economics (Spring Only)
• PADM 596 Research Methods II Data Analysis* (Spring Only)
• PADM 610 Cultural Competence and Healthcare Administration (Fall Only)
• PADM 611 Healthcare Information and Technology (Fall Only)

*Students must meet the statistics prerequisite (ex: STATS 145, MATH 1350) before enrolling.

TOEFL (internet-based) 79, TOEFL (paper-based) 550, IELTS 6.5, Pearson Test of English 53.
