Discover how to use mathematics to explore and make sense of the world and the universe.UEA’s BSc in Mathematics with a Placement Year has been designed to develop your interests and expertise in mathematics and statistics. You will have the flexibility to focus on pure and applied mathematics and statistics. You will also benefit from of a year spent on placement within a relevant industry, giving you real-world experience and helping you stand out in the job market.At UEA you’ll benefit from internationally recognised, research-led teaching and a high academic staff to student ratio. Lectures are complemented by small group teaching in your year 1, and regular workshops in later years, ensuring you receive high quality contact with our world-class lecturers.**Overview**Mathematics has been proven useful in just about every field of human endeavour. It provides a rational, objective means for the foundation of knowledge, and is used in science and exploration, in business and government, in industry and forecasting, in art and in baking – and our BSc Mathematics is incredibly popular as a result.You’ll spend the third of this four-year BSc degree on a full-time industrial placement lasting nine to fourteen months, where you’ll put theoretical work into professional practice, and gain a real advantage for when you graduate.The academic side of course will develop your interests in mathematics and statistics, and its flexible format will allow you to focus your learning on pure and applied mathematics and statistics, or complement your studies with modules from related subjects taught by other UEA Schools, such as meteorology, business, computing, and financial accounting. In this way you can tailor your course to reflect your strengths and interests.At UEA, we combine academic rigour with a supportive community.
