If you’re curious about how our mind works and what drives human behaviour, psychology is your perfect subject. At Essex you acquire skills that go far beyond being useful in related professions. Studying psychology is an investment for life. Our BA Psychology is fully accredited by the by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You cover core areas in psychology, including developmental psychology, intelligence, language, memory, perception, social psychology, health psychology, and research methods and statistics. With a strong emphasis on the teaching of research skills, you learn how to design effective studies of your own, and to appraise and critically evaluate those of others. Your third year spent abroad gives you the chance to gain more experience and become even more employable. During your final year you will conduct your own research project developing a deep understanding of how psychology is used in the world.
