Nothing can prepare you for the sense of ownership and pride, and of, well, home you might know someday in a room you fill every day you teach. DSU's elementary education major is steeped in this sort of awareness.

DSU knows that teaching is so much more than the paperwork, certification rules, and lesson plans. Teaching is an utterly human activity, full of emotion and driven by guts and joy. Come study with us here at DSU.

Education classes are typically close-knit and hands-on. Faculty have real-life experience teaching and helping with state education projects. As a student in their classrooms, you’ll receive real-world advice that will be immediately applicable.

Integrated technology

With DSU’s technical focus, you’ll be prepared to teach with the latest classroom technology. You’ll use one-to-one wireless mobile computers on campus, so you can teach in one-to-one classrooms. You’ll be fully prepared to teach with essential technology as it emerges. DSU has a strong tradition of preparing quality teachers that know how and when to use technology to enhance student learning. Schools that employ our graduates know our first-year teachers are well-prepared.

All of our education graduates receive a K-12 educational technology endorsement. It's built right into the degree. This means our teachers not only know how to integrate technology into their classrooms, but they can teach computer classes at elementary, middle and high school levels.
