For students who love to study languages but and have a hard time picking only one, FLL offers the popular interdisciplinary major in Languages. Majors choose 2 languages in which to specialize from all those offered at UNM (Latin, ancient Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Navajo, Old English, Sign Language, and others), as well as courses in linguistics and the history of languages.

The Languages Major allows students to get a general introduction to the study of languages with a specialization in two languages of the student’s choice.

The Languages Minor allows students to specialize in two languages of the student’s choice.

Career Opportunities:

A general program that focuses on one or more modern foreign languages that is not specific as to the name of the language(s) studied; that is otherwise undifferentiated; or that introduces students to language studies at the basic/elementary level.

为来自中国的学生设计 Secondary Education: Completion of the equivalent of an American upper secondary school education (approximately twelve years of formal education beginning at age six) and have the appropriate diplomas or satisfactory results on leaving examinations (if completed). Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credit hours). TOEFL (internet-based) 68, TOEFL (paper-based) 520, IELTS 6.0, Pearson Test of English 47.
