专业概况

Graduate study in Biomedical Informatics provides you with an in-depth foundation in evaluating and managing concepts and systems related to information management in healthcare and biomedical research settings. Our graduates will be well prepared for technical, policy or planning leadership positions in healthcare, industry or biomedical research settings. Our faculty has research portfolios including clinical informatics/decision support, bioinformatics/translational research informatics, biomedical ontologies, clinical population/public health informatics and the socio-technical/human centered design of biomedical information systems.

Curriculum and Requirements

Our curriculum immerses you in all aspects of biomedical informatics, with expert faculty guiding your progress every step of the way. Our master’s degree in biomedical informatics requires a minimum of 36 credit hours. This includes core, selective and elective courses. If you have previous professional or graduate training or a desire to develop more specialized expertise or skills you may concentrate your studies in one of our department’s five divisional tracks instead of general bioinformatics.

Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
