Overview

Dental materials are evolving rapidly to keep pace with the huge changes appearing in digital workflows and biological approaches across much of dentistry. This course fills this gap by providing you with a deep understanding of modern dental materials with a focus on those used in additive and subtractive manufacturing and those used in regenerative dentistry.

Dental Materials is a full-time course and is open to Home/EU and international candidates.

It will help you understand what questions should be asked of materials when deciding whether to adopt new digital workflows. You will also undertake a substantial research project facilitated by access to the School’s extensive research facilities, which will allow you to explore in-depth an area of particular interest.

Learning and teaching

The masters is delivered through a combination of intensive block teaching at the University of Leeds (consisting of seminars, group work and practical work), and self-directed reading.

For the research project you will be allocated an experienced personal mentor from our academic staff. You will also have access to a software developer to help with any novel ideas that you may wish to employ or evaluate in your research.

On this course you’ll be taught by our expert academics, from lecturers through to professors. You may also be taught by industry professionals with years of experience, as well as trained postgraduate researchers, connecting you to some of the brightest minds on campus.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the course.

The University of Leeds uses institutional lists when assessing applications from accepted Chinese institutions, and requirements may vary by school. Please check the appropriate listings below before making an application. For courses require 1st class, students need to have Minimum of 80%. For courses require 2.1, students need to have Minimum of 75%. For courses require 2.2, students need to have Minimum of 70%. Minimum qualifications include: IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each component skill.
