专业概况

在这里学什么? Denmark, Norway and Sweden have long had a considerable impact beyond the Nordic region and, today, Scandinavian languages and cultures continue to expand in popularity. The region's television, film and literature, in particular, attract global critical acclaim. Edinburgh is the only university in Scotland, and one of only two in the UK, to offer undergraduate honours programmes in Scandinavian Studies, enabling you to learn modern Danish, Swedish or Norwegian in the context of Scandinavian culture, past and present. Home of the Northern Scholars programme, the University has an excellent reputation for research and teaching in this area. Over the course of your four-year programme, you’ll specialise in the modern language of either Denmark, Norway or Sweden but, whichever you choose, you’ll also gain an understanding of the other two. You do not need previous knowledge of any of the languages, as courses are available for beginners. You will spend Year 3 studying, teaching or working in a Scandinavian country. Another attractive characteristic of this programme is its flexibility. This means that in Years 1 and 2, you will choose option courses drawn from a broad list of disciplines in addition to your core subject.
