The Story of Invictus

2015年，新加坡2位资深IT企业家John Fearon & Dr. Mark Hon为了给新加坡当地外籍人士子女的教育提供更好的服务及改善外籍子女上学成本高的问题，创办了Invictus International School。

2018年，新加坡Invictus国际学校荣获新加坡十大国际学校的荣誉。

时至今日，新加坡Invictus国际学校已发展成为在新加坡拥有3所校区、香港2所校区、柬埔寨1所校区。

In 2015, two senior IT entrepreneurs in Singapore, John Fearon and Dr. Mark Hon, founded Invictus International School to better serve the education for the children of local expatriates in Singapore and improve the problem of high cost of attending school.

In 2018, Singapore Invictus International School was named ‘The 10 Best International Schools in Singapore‘.

Today, Singapore Invictus International School has grown into a campus with 3 campuses in Singapore, 2 campuses in Hong Kong and 1 in Cambodia.

Mandarin Lessons in Singapore Campuses

以学生为中心Student-centered

在新加坡 Dempsy Hill登普西山校区，每周会有3节中文课：周二、周三、周四。

登普西山校区的中文学习以学生为中心。学生通过唱歌、地毯时间、宾果、汉语耳语、看图说词、小组讨论、演讲、访谈或角色扮演等不同课堂活动，积极投入课堂。这些活动让我们的学生通过应用概念和新知识来加深对中文的理解。其中许多活动也给更好地老师提供对学生学习进步的反馈。

Mandarin class frequency: 3 lessons a week, Tues, Wed, Fri

Mandarin learning at Dempsey is student-centred. Students are motivated and engaged in class through different class activities such as singing of songs, carpet time, bingo, Chinese whisper, Pictionary, group discussions, presentations, interviews or role playing, etc. Each activity mentioned provides our students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of Mandarin by applying concepts and new knowledge. Many of these activities also provide the teacher with feedback regarding the students’progress.

 

分层教学 Differentiated Teaching

此外，我们还努力通过应用不同的教学方法和适当的教学策略，提高学生的 4 种中文技能：听力、口语、阅读和写作。为了让学生更好地学习掌握中文，所有G3-G6年级的学生都分为三个阶段。为确保所有学生都能掌握各自的目标和成长，我们进行差异化分层教学和提供工艺课程，为每个学生提供与之相匹配的支持和挑战。

Additionally, we strive to improve our students’ 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) by applying diverse teaching approaches and appropriate teaching strategies. To better suit the learning of students with varying levels of mastery of Mandarin, all students from Grade 3-6 are streamed into three phases (phase 1-3). To ensure that all students can master their individual objectives and grow, we conduct differentiation in teaching and craft lessons that provide the right amount of support and challenge for every student.

 

ECA

在课堂上运用交互式的学习策略可以丰富教育，使学生感到更有动力和兴趣。我们将 Quizlet、Quizizz 和 Gimkit等技术集成到课堂中，以鼓励学生参与和互动。除了日常中文课程，中文教师每周举办三次中文ECA，以满足学生学习中文的额外需求。

Using interactive learning strategies in class enriches education and makes students feel more motivated and interested. We integrate technology such as Quizlet, Quizizz and Gimkit into the classroom to encourage participation and interaction. Besides normal lessons, Mandarin department teachers also conduct Mandarin ECA three times per week to meet the extra needs of students learning Mandarin.

 

注重中国文化传播

Chinese Culture Appreciation

除了汉语教学外，我们还注重中国文化的传播。我们每年与学生一起庆祝春节、中秋节和端午节等中国节日。学生通过观看视频和品尝传统食物来了解传统背后的故事，同时，学生每年还将参加春节联欢晚会。通过这些活动，学生更好地了解中国文化，提高学习汉语的热情。

去年，我们还在学校举办了届汉字书写比赛，以提高学生对汉字书写的鉴赏力。明年，我们将在学校举办届汉语阅读比赛。

我们将努力培养和保持学生学习汉语的热情和对中国文化的欣赏。

在新加坡Invictus校区，每个学生都享受着这样丰富有趣的中文课。这种独具特色的中文课程及双语教育，促进了孩子中文能力的提升。不仅仅受到新加坡学生的喜欢，也备受家长们的推崇。

Besides the teaching of the Chinese language, we also focus on the spreading of Chinese culture. We celebrate Chinese Festivals every year with students. Students learn the stories behind the traditions by watching relevant videos and tasting traditional food. Every year, every student participates in our Chinese New Year Gala show.

Last year, we organized the 1st Chinese Character Handwriting Contest in school to enhance our students’ appreciation of Chinese writing. Next year, we will organize the 1st Chinese Reading Contest at the school.

We would like to do our best to cultivate and maintain our students’ passion in learning Mandarin and their appreciation towards Chinese culture.

In Singapore Invictus campus, students enjoys a variety of interesting Chinese lessons. The unique Chinese curriculum and bilingual education has highly improved students' Chinese language skills.

Shenzhen Invictus Pre-school is affiliated with Invictus School Shenzhen, holding a mission of sharing the benefits of a world-class education for all Chinese. We provide a curriculum that blends Chinese and Western education system for children aged from 1.5 to 6 years old.
