在这里学什么?Why study Spanish BA at UB?
Spanish is the first language of 427 million speakers in over 30 countries, and is the official language not only of Spain, but also of Mexico, several Caribbean islands, most of the countries of Central and South America, and Equatorial Guinea. With 41 million native speakers and another 11.6 million who are bilingual, the United States is ahead of Colombia (48 million) and Spain (46 million) and second only to Mexico (121 million). Spanish is a major international language of banking, commerce, cultural production, diplomacy, and science. Fluency in Spanish opens up a wide range of service and employment opportunities at home and abroad. RLL's Spanish program introduces students to a wide range of disciplines within the area of Hispanic language and civilization. Its goal is to build students' proficiency in the Spanish language. Students may take coursework in literature, linguistics, language teaching, or other related areas. The program offers a broad selection of classes, as well as opportunity for independent study or directed work in allied fields. Spanish students are strongly encouraged to study abroad for a summer, a semester, or a full year. There are quality affordable SUNY programs in Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Spain, among other destinations. Students who wish to earn teacher certification should contact the Teacher Education Institute in the Graduate School of Education, 367 Baldy Hall.

Career Outlook
Students who choose RLL and especially the Spanish program as their main academic home at UB find a number of career opportunities open to them. Among graduates in the past decade, many have gone on to do graduate work in Spanish, some have gone on to law school or business school, and others have found positions with the U.S. State Department as well as in secondary education. Whatever career appeals to graduating students, proficiency in Spanish will assuredly be an advantage.

为来自中国的学生设计 Admission to UB’s freshman class is selective and is based in part on the quality of your secondary school academic record and the number of spaces available in the class. You should feel confident applying to UB if you have an above-average academic record and have taken challenging courses in high school to help prepare you to be successful at university. UB uses a 4.0 grading scale and we expect students applying here to have the equivalent of a 3.0 on that scale. That is the same as a grade of B or 83 on a 100-point scale. English Language Scores: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 70, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 523, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.0, the minimum score of PTE is 50, CAEL 70, CanTEST 4.5, Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) score 185; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score 185, IB Higher Level English a Literature 4, IB Higher Level English a Language and Literature 4.课程信息
