Why study Accounting BS at UB?

Why is the University at Buffalo School of Management a great place to invest your time, money and energy?

The answer: All of our programs are accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and provide you with an educational experience that offers both quality and value. Our majors prepare you for eventual managerial careers in the private and nonprofit sectors. Our curriculum emphasizes a broad exposure to quantitative reasoning, social sciences and soft skills, and a general management education required to compete in today's global market.

Undergraduates who major in accounting also gain critical experience in areas such as marketing and human resources. With a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, you’ll be prepared for entry-level professional positions in public accounting as well as many careers in industry and government.

Students interested in taking the New York State CPA examination need to be aware that the undergraduate accounting degree is not sufficient to sit for the NYSCPA exam and need to explore graduate studies to qualify, such as the Master of Science in Accounting in the School of Management.

Learning Outcomes

The University at Buffalo School of Management Undergraduate Programs are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students, guided by a culture of responsibility and mutual respect. Learning outcomes for the program are determined and continuously updated through discussion with the faculty group responsible for delivery of the courses in the program, as well as external stakeholders of the program, such as the Accounting Advisory Council of the department and recruiters of our students. In this program, students will develop proficiency in four key skill areas:

recording, analyzing and interpreting information for external and internal use risk assessment, audit processes and responsibilities of accountants management and assessment of data and information technology tax principles, strategy and compliance

Upon the completion of this program, students will be able to apply critical thinking skills, ethical standards and relevant accounting principles to unstructured problems. Students will also be able to communicate effectively in professional accounting settings.

Career Outlook

The Career Resource Center (CRC) in the School of Management serves as the primary resource for students and alumni, helping them to effectively leverage CRC tools and services in career exploration and job search. The CRC is also a key link between the school and employers, offering programs that bring these groups together, such as job fairs, networking events, the Career Passport Program, internships, campus recruiting, professional speakers for student clubs, industry presenters in the required career planning/strategies class, the LinkedIn UB alumni Mentor Link group, as well as career development workshops and seminars.

为来自中国的学生设计 Admission to UB’s freshman class is selective and is based in part on the quality of your secondary school academic record and the number of spaces available in the class. You should feel confident applying to UB if you have an above-average academic record and have taken challenging courses in high school to help prepare you to be successful at university. UB uses a 4.0 grading scale and we expect students applying here to have the equivalent of a 3.0 on that scale. That is the same as a grade of B or 83 on a 100-point scale. English Language Scores: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 70, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 523, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.0, the minimum score of PTE is 50, CAEL 70, CanTEST 4.5, Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) score 185; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score 185, IB Higher Level English a Literature 4, IB Higher Level English a Language and Literature 4.
