专业概况

在这里学什么？ The languages, history, politics and culture of the Scandinavian countries have long had a considerable impact beyond the Nordic region. Studying Scandinavian Studies and History helps us understand the world in which we live now, as well as shedding light on the past. On our programme, you have the opportunity to develop advanced spoken and written language skills while gaining the broad cultural education prized by graduate employers. The Edinburgh experience is distinctive for the range of historical themes, chronological periods and geographical areas which you can study using a variety of different intellectual approaches to the past. Edinburgh is the only university in Scotland, and one of only two in the UK, to offer undergraduate honours programmes in Scandinavian Studies, enabling you to learn modern Danish, Swedish or Norwegian in the context of Scandinavian culture and alongside History. You do not need previous knowledge of any of the languages as courses are available for beginners. You will spend Year 3 studying, teaching or working in either Norway, Denmark or Sweden. Another attractive characteristic of this programme is its flexibility. This means that in Years 1 and 2, you will choose option courses drawn from a broad list of disciplines in addition to your core subjects.
