专业概况

在这里学什么？

A degree in community health and health behavior provides a foundational understanding of the factors that influence individuals' health choices. You will also determine the role of the community in the onset of—and solutions to—public health problems. With this education and through applied field and/or research opportunities, you'll be prepared to address health challenges in your local, regional, and broader communities. As a graduate, you'll be well prepared for a career in public health agencies, academia, health care delivery systems, voluntary health agencies or private research.

The MS in Community Health and Health Behavior positions you to:

• Address community and behavioral factors that impact health and wellness
• Work on research teams conducting community health and health behavior research
• Succeed in your career within academia, government agencies or private/non-governmental agencies
• This program is research-based and takes approximately one to one-and-a-half years to complete.

Requirements

The Master of Science (MS) program in Community Health and Health Behavior requires 30 credit hours of classroom coursework, directed research and a culminating experience.

The UB Graduate School requires a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum grade of B in all coursework to count towards your degree.

Curriculum

Throughout your coursework, you will study key principles of public health, community health and health behavior, and statistical and research methodology.

Beyond formal coursework, the program is based on a mentor-mentee, apprenticeship model. This means that you will be involved with a faculty member’s research during your time in the program.

Upon completion of your coursework, you’ll complete a culminating experience this can be either a Master’s Thesis research project or a written comprehensive exam.

Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
