5月的最后一天，上师大附二外国际部Spelling Bee拼读大赛总决赛在六楼多功能厅举行。上师大附二外国际部全体师生齐聚现场，见证赛事的丰厚成果。

The annual Spelling Bee was held on the last day of May in our school’s 6th floor auditorium. All the students and teachers from the Cambridge Department came together there to witness this exciting event.

今年的Spelling Bee拼写大赛与往年赛制标准基本一致，但是难度系数更高。本次Spelling Bee词库接近300个单词，共5个阶梯水平，有的单词长度由17个字母构成，颇具挑战，覆盖了全员各学段。

This year's Spelling Competition is basically the same as in previous years, but the difficulty coefficient is higher. The Spelling Bee list has nearly 300 words, with five levels. Some words were 17 letters in length, which is quite challenging and also pitted all grades of students against each other.

比赛开始，选手们就进入紧张的心态，大多选手为了正常发挥，即便听出单词的发音，也会申请评委用一句话定义该单词。当**轮结束后，约一半选手淘汰。剩下的选手心态不一，应了那句成语：成竹在胸。

At the beginning of the competition, the atmosphere was tense, the contestants frequently asking the judges for the definition of the word or the word in the context of a sentence, in order toensure they had correctly heard the pronunciation of the word . When the first round was over, about half of the players were eliminated. The remaining contestants displayed differing mindsets; some were more cautious; some more ambitious; very few students managed to maintain a calm demeanor, but eventually the 3 winners proved their strategies to be the best.

在整个比赛过程中，场下的观众非常有风度。未参与的学生积极关注比赛进程，加油助威。不论选手答对或者答错，都立即回应以“掌声”。与上一届Spelling Bee拼读大赛相比，本届观众更加礼貌、团结、集体意识强烈。

Throughout the competition, the audience watched with bated breath. The students who did not participate, actively paid attention to the progress of the competition and cheered the competitors on. Whether the player answered correctly or not, their immediate response was enthusiastic applause. This was indeed an audience fully engaged in the competitive spirit of the Spelling Bee with attentive and united .

一年级的Eason说出了大多学生的心声：“虽然我听不懂大哥哥大姐姐拼读的单词，但是我知道他们需要掌声。”

Eason, a Grade 1 student, spoke on behalf of most students: "Although I can't understand all the words spelled by my big brothers and sisters, I know they need encouragement and applause."

在本次比赛中，获奖的注定是少数人，但是每一个学生都比去年进步巨大，他们的风度就是为自己颁发的荣誉勋章。我校提倡：“与智慧同行;与快乐结伴;与世界对话;有勇气、有特长、有爱心、有同情心”通过本次比赛，我们感受到教育推动人格的力量，希望这批可爱的学生在我校言行雅正的校风熏陶下成为一名融合中西、放眼全球的世界青年!

In this type of competition, the winners are destined to be but a few, but every student has made more progress than last year. Their demeanor is like a medal of honor which they award to themselves. Our school advocates: "Walk with Wisdom; Make friends with Happiness; Dialogue with the world. Have courage, strength, love and compassion." Throughout this competition, we feel the power of education promoting these sentiments. We hope that these fine students will become worldly youths with Chinese, Western and global visions, under the influence of our school's indomitable spirit!
