The Master's in Nursing Leadership and Health Care Systems Program educates baccalaureate-prepared nurses to assume leadership and executive roles in a variety of health care systems and settings. Leadership and management essential core competencies that promote innovative change and quality outcomes provide the foundation needed in a complex and dynamic health care environment.

Achieving leadership and management essential core competencies provides the skills needed to assume leadership and executive roles in a complex and ever-changing health care environment.

The Schools of Nursing, Public Health and Management come together to provide an interdisciplinary approach in addressing issues and challenges of continuous change and quality management facing current and future complex health care systems.

Clinical practicum experiences are individually designed to provide students with opportunities to develop and apply evidence-based leadership and management concepts and techniques.

Potential employment opportunities for those completing this program may include nurse or unit manager, administrative positions within a healthcare system such as director or vice-president of nursing, staff development, patient safety officer and/or quality improvement specialists.

MS Program Outcomes

  • Appraise financial, human capital and material resources within a quality improvement framework to improve patient outcomes.
  • Analyze ethical, political, economic, legal and regulatory issues that impact health care delivery
  • Apply leadership and management theories and practices to the design and implementation of services in a health care setting.
  • Facilitate the utilization of research findings and evidence-based strategies to optimize nursing care delivery in clinical settings.
  • Integrate knowledge of organizations, fiscal and human resources to facilitate the delivery of quality, cost-effective health care.
  • Determine advanced information technology resources as strategies to improve clinical practice, education and research.
  • Formulate organizational and systems leadership strategies to foster inter professional collaborations in improving patient and population outcomes in health care systems.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
