The school embracing the STEAM concept is not only about immediate achievements, but also about long-term goals. The current goal is to adapt to current trends and be educationally innovative; combined with the reality of progress, to give children of different ages and levels the most suitable education. The long-term goal is to give children the ability to interact with the computerized world in the future. A child who cannot do programming in 10 years' time may be as anxious as a child who can't speak English now.

也许依然有家长对STEAM学习持有怀疑态度：孩子学习编程会不会染上网瘾?

Perhaps some parents are still skeptical about STEAM learning: will their children develop an internet addiction while they are learning programming?

答案是：不会。会编程的孩子反而不会沉溺于网络，因为会编程的孩子拥有了上帝视角，知道这个游戏是怎么编出来的，所以就不会再被游戏骗去消费了。

The answer is: No. Children who can do programming will not be addicted to the Internet. Those who are able to program have a creator’s perspective and know how the game is compiled, so they will not be cheated by the recreational aspect.

上师大附二外剑桥双语部五年级的赵同学(Danny)就是一个STEAM课程爱好者，他告诉我校记者：“我学习这门课程是因为我哥哥从事计算机行业，自小耳濡目染。STEAM不是游戏，因为这门学科的严谨性反而可以培养学习者缜密的思维，又因为这门学科的趣味性，可以培养学习者的勤奋程度，所以也不会让人去玩游戏。”

Danny Zhao, a fifth-grade student, a STEAM course enthusiast, told our reporter: "I took this course because my brother is in the computer industry and I have been interested in computers since childhood. STEAM is not a game, because the rigorous nature of this discipline can foster careful thinking and an interest in the subject; it can cultivate diligence and hard work, so children won’t play computer games.”

同样来自五年级的戚同学(Barly)深表同感，她补充道：“STEAM课程在美国兴起多年，我很高兴我们的学校抓住先机，STEAM刚在中国火起来，就为我们开设此课。”

Another fifth grader, Barly, echoed the sentiment, adding: "STEAM has been around in the U.S. for years and I'm glad our school took the initiative to get it started for us in China."
