为了给各位家长和学生提供更准确、全面的升学指导服务，上师大附二外国际部于5月10日，邀请升学指导王老师为全体中方老师开办了一场内容充实又颇具前瞻性的讲座。

In order to help Homeroom teachers provide more effective guidance to students and parents, our Department invited Leo, Director of Counseling Center, to lecture to teachers on How to navigate and succeed in College Admissions.

教师培训

王老师首先带领大家回顾了我部十二年级毕业生的走向，引出申请大学时所需的资料，*括学术材料、非学术材料、个人陈述、推荐信和其他兴趣特长材料等。其中，学术材料*括GPA、标化考试、SAT等，非学术材料*括参加的各项活动、比赛等。王老师重点介绍了GPA和标化考试在申请不同大学时的参考成绩。

Firstly, Leo reviewed the application process of the current Grade 12 and explained all the information that needs to be collected on behalf of each student, which include academic materials, non-academic materials, personal statements, letters of recommendation and other materials of interest and expertise which could prove the student who is really UNIQUE. Academic materials include GPA results, the Language Proficiency Requirements (TOEFL/IELTS), SAT, etc. Non-academic materials include various activities and competitions, etc. After that, Leo introduced the reference scores of GPA and the Language Proficiency Requirements (TOEFL/IELTS) when students do apply for different universities.

其次，王老师强调申请大学时的时间节点。学生应尽早准备好材料，参加通常在每年11月1日截止的早申，争取更多进入优秀大学的机会。美国大学的选择性很大，王老师建议“适合，才是比较好”的原则来择校，不要盲从。

Then, Leo emphasized the Deadline of College Applications. Students should prepare their materials as soon as possible and register for the early applications, which deadline is usually on November 1, in order to gain more opportunities to be enrolled in Top Universities. American universities are very selective. Leo suggested that the principle of "The suitable is the best!" should be applied to the selection of universities and we should not randomly choose universities.
