上师大附二外国际部本周升旗仪式的主持人是来自12年级的戴同学和叶同学。在庄严的升旗仪式后，来自12年级的马同学为我们作演讲，主题是“感恩母亲”。

Grade 12 representatives, Sandy Dai and Gogo Ye hosted this week’s flag-raising ceremony.Following the ceremony, Peter Ma gave a speech related to Mother’s Day, entitled, “Being Thankful for Mothers”.

在演讲中，马同学首先提到了周日的母亲节，并跟大家分享了一个让他记忆深刻的故事：有个小女孩出生在一个单亲家庭，父亲去世很早，和母亲相依为命。她们的生活虽然贫困，但过得很幸福。直到有一天，小女孩再也没有等到母亲的归来，原来她的母亲发生车祸了。直到葬礼那天，小女孩才知道她的母亲为了维持两人的生活和供她上学，一直做着四份**。马同学说，自己**次听到这个故事时只有七岁，当天晚上还是忍不住地哭了;当时很害怕失去自己的父母，感到生活在一个完整的家庭中是那么幸福。

In his speech, Peter first mentioned Mother's Day, and then shared with everyone a story that had made a deep impression on him: a little girl was raised in a single-parent family. Her father had died very early and she depended on her mother. Although they lived in poverty, they were happy. One day, the mother did not arrive to collect her daughter. Her mother had been in a car accident and killed. It was only on the day of the funeral that the little girl understood that her mother had been working at four jobs in order to keep the family going and provide for her schooling. Peter said that when he first heard the story, he was only seven years old, and he couldn't help crying that night. At that time, he was afraid of losing his parents and realized how fortunate he was to have both parents alive and supporting him.

从这个故事中，马同学感受到，即便生活有时不太如意，但请坚信，父母一定已经为我们付出了**的努力。我们要懂得父母这样做是出于对我们的爱，但我们千万不能把这份珍贵的爱看成是理所应当的。我们在一天天长大，父母在一天天老去。不久我们会出国留学，会努力**，会组建自己的家庭，我们与父母相见的时间是少之又少，请珍惜与父母在一起的每一天、每一分、每一秒。

As a result of this story, he came to understand that even though life is sometimes not pleasant, we must still firmly believe that our parents have made the greatest efforts for us. We need to understand that our parents do this out of love for us, but we must not take this precious love for granted. As we are growing up day by day, our parents are aging day by day. Soon we will study abroad, work hard and form our own family. We will then no longer have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with our parents. Therefore, we need to cherish every moment we can spend with our parents.

最后，马同学陈述妈妈手袋里物品的变化过程，起先是口红和化妆品，然后变成了糖果和饼干，再后来变成各种儿童读物和学习用品，接下来应是学校成绩单和录取通知书……妈妈的手袋是自己成长的见证，也是妈妈关爱自己的承托。所以，在父母面前请不要害羞，我们应该主动拥抱自己的父母，并大声说出对父母的爱!

Finally, Peter described the changes the years bring by referring to what his mother kept in her handbag. It was firstly lipstick and cosmetics, then candy and biscuits, then various children's books and school supplies, and then school transcripts and admission notices… His mother's handbag was not only the evidence of his growth, but also evidence of his mother's care for him. In closing, he asked all students to not be shy in showing their appreciation to their parents. We should use every opportunity to embrace our parents and declare our love for them!
