上师大附二外剑桥双语部师生Spelling Bee决赛感悟分享

经过好几周的熏陶和培训,终于迎来上师大附二外剑桥双语部激烈的Spelling Bee校内决赛。获胜冠军为七年级马同学 ,亚军为五年级李同学,季军为七年级周同学。让我们在此予以祝贺。

After week of furious preparation and training, the day of the Spelling Bee finals arrived. 7th Grader, Amy, was the eventual winner; the runner-up was Jack, in the 5th Grade and in third place was 7th Grader, Rain. We offer them our sincere congratulations.

作为倡导全人教育的学校,我们了解结果,也关注过程。为什么有的孩子背单词特别快呢?带着这个问题,我校文宣部采访了我校剑桥部师生。整理汇总如下:

As a school that advocated and encourages whole-person education, we understand the results and focus on the process. Why do some children recite words so fast? With this question in mind, we interviewed teachers and students in our school’s Cambridge Department. What we learned can be summarized as follows:

“作为老师,我们不会刻意强调记单词,而是让学生们在情境中学习单词,在绘本中理解单词。单词是拼写的文字,所以我校老师一直提倡自然拼读法,在**期家长会上,我校老师着重强调不建议学生用读字母的方式,以dog为例,d-o-g这样的读法不利于学生们领悟自然拼读,应是用do-g(d-uo- ge)方式拼单词。学生会把单词记得牢,学的快。”

“As teachers, we don’t encourage students to just learn the words, but to learn the words in context with their syllabus and workbooks. At the first parent meeting, our school teachers recommended that students should not practice spelling by mere repetition, but that learning new words should come naturally. Take the word “dog” for instance: the word is learned using the phonetic spelling of the word (d-uo-ge). This is how students can learn and remember new words.”

“我注重单词的词根,词源,同音字以及末尾有1个字母e 的单词,这样帮助我记得又快又准。”

“I pay close attention to the word root, the etymology of the word, homonyms (words which sound the same), and words which end with “e”. This helps me to remember quickly and more accurately.”

“我用了奖励法激励自己,我跟父母说只要我冲进前三,就给我一个奖励。正是奖励的刺激,让我坚持不懈,持之以恒的记单词。”

“I used the reward method to motivate myself. My parents said that if I managed to progress to the final three, I would receive a reward. This served as a great motivation and helps me to continue to learn new words.”

“参加这次比赛,我用了登阶梯法,先从简单入手,再一步一个脚印,这种目标感让我备赛过程清晰,以后学校有比赛,我还会参加。”

“In order to progress in this competition, I used the ladder method. Starting from simple words, I progressed to the more difficult words. This sense of purpose and diligence helped me to focus clearly. In the future if there are other competitions, at school I will definitely participate in them.”

正所谓“无声胜有声”,笔者更偏向于“不为记而记单词”的学习法。名次总有高低之分,但是方法却无好坏之分。希望各位学生和家长在借鉴别人的方法后,找出最适合自己的方法。亮出我们上师大附二外人的风采!

Perhaps we can summarize by saying this: It is Inevitable, that, in competitions, there will always be success and failure, but these is no” bad” and no “good”. There are many ways to learn. It is my sincere hope that students and parents will be able to benefit from the methods laid out here in order to find the best method that suits their individual learning style. Let us bring more honour to The Second Foreign Language School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University!
